What's different?
A better question would be, "What isn't?"
The plugs are different - 220V
Everyone talks funny
The money is made out of plastic
The 50 cent pieces are like the size of hubcap
$1 and $2 are both coins
Soda is $2-$3 for a 16 oz. bottle - not sure what that is in milliliters
If this spellcheck were British that'd be millilitres...
Oh yeah, everything is in metric
Our new scale also gives us our weight in stone
And a trip to the grocery store is quite an adventure

Great, so I'm already more than a month behind on recapping my journey... even the time zone thing doesn't give me an advantage...
I apologize as I recap - some of it will be out of order...
From the lumbering 14-foot U-Haul that took me on the 1,400 mile journey north to Canada to the hulking airbus that whisked me 6,500 miles across the ocean... I just have one thing to say... "Sorry about that huge hole in the ozone I just created."
Reviews of in-flight movies:
Blades of Glory - Will Farrell in spandex, what else is there to say?
Reign Over Me - No offense Mr. Sandler, I kind of slept through most of this one... seemed a little depressing though.
The Pursuit of Happyness - I think they showed all the good parts on Oprah. May have also dozed off during some key plot development. I did expect it to be more of a tear-jerker.
Notes on a Scandal - Actually, I liked this one. And even though it was a slow-moving, intellectual British art-film, surprisingly I stayed awake for this one. Kind of earthy, gritty, underside of humanity - with a twist - if you like those sorts of things.
Pan's Labyrinth - I don't think I had enough in-flight alcohol to deal with this one. Honestly, though, I did find it interesting. I liked the concept of the story, but I did have to cover my eyes a couple of times due to gory special effects. It's kind of like Hanzel and Grettle meets some of the cave monsters from Lord of the Rings... plus a little Nightmare on Elm Street.
Apocalypto - Someone please take Mel Gibsons' camera away from him. At first, this honestly seemed interesting. Drifted in and out. Seemed like a 15-minute documentary stretched into over two hours. Seriously... talk about dragging things out... in the end there's a chase scene and you're forced to watch how every single bad guy meets his demise - and there's like 15 of them!
So yes, I was very excited about the free movies. If you ever travel abroad, make sure you get the planes with the individual screens in each seat. It's totally worth it.
